A few more nights of sleep and it’s autumn holiday again! Starting October 12th, the kids in the southern region of the Netherlands can enjoy a week off after starting the new school year. And when it’s holiday, there is plenty to see and do. These are the best outings!
LEGO World 2019
It’s a big hit every year during the autumn holidays: LEGO World! This event is held in the Jaarbeurs in the city of Utrecht. Kids can enjoy the most beautiful things build with LEGO and can build their own stuff too of course. The entrance fee for LEGO World is €19,50 per person and is open between 17 and 23 October.
Chuggington do-days in the Railway Museum
Kids between 2 and 6 will really enjoy the Chuggington do-days at the Spoorwegmuseum (Railway Museum) in Utrecht. Between 18 and 22 October Wilson, Brewster and Koko, known from Telekids, will be at the museum. Take pictures with them, learn how train tracks work and enjoy shows about the red train. There is also a play area.
Fairytale Festival in Arnhem
Between 12 and 20 October you can enjoy the Sprookjesfestival (Fairytale Festival) at the city center of Arnhem. You can listen to fairy tales that are being read, listen to musical fairy tales, watch dance performances, visit castles and lots more. Put on your best princess dress and enjoy!
The Cinekid Festival takes place every autumn holiday. This media festival for kids is organised at the Westergasfabriek, but also at dozens of other locations in the Netherlands. Kids can watch movies, take workshops and fight zombies in virtual reality.
Pathé kids movies
Let stay with movies for a moment, because cinema chain Pathé also organises special kids-screenings during the holidays. At the Kleuterbios (toddler cinema) the light will be dimmed, but won’t go out. The sounds is less hard too. In most cases you will get a special kids box with popcorn, a drink and a small toy.
To the fair!
In the cities of Enschede, Rotterdam and Breda you can enjoy tasty candy canes and exciting rides. It’s the autumn fair! The city’s are blinded by colorful lights and cheerful stalls. Are you going into the ferris wheel first or do you choose the haunted house?
Mega Indoor Inflatable Boucer Festival
In the city of Groningen kids can let all their energy out at the Mega Indoor Springkussen Festival (inflatable bouncer festival). Slide, climb and jump at 12,000 square meters of inflatable bouncers at MartiniPlaza. Kids can enjoy storm tracks and rodeo bulls. Drinks and food is available. During pre-sale tickets cost 8 euro’s and kids can jump and climbs between ten and five.
Walk the Wolf Track at Ommen
Fun, fun, fun: the Wolf Track (het Wolvenspoor) in the area of Ommen. This is a special hike for kids, where they crawl into the skin of a wolf.
Of course you don’t have to do special outings during the autumn holiday to have fun. There are countless things to do that are fun. Go to the Dolfinarium to see the dolphins swim, pay a visit to the zoo or make a nice autumn walk down the forest. You can do a nature walk: let your kids search for mushrooms, pine cones, insects and moss for example.
