Memobottle’s aim is to change the public perception on reusable water bottles and encourage a more reusable society by providing a stylish, practical reusable bottle solution.

What is memobottle

Memobottle is the original flat, reusable water bottle designed around the international paper sizes, which allows it to fit conveniently in bags and pockets. The memobottle comes in four unique sizes; A5, A6, A7, and the Slim.

Why memobottle was created

Memobottle was created to overcome two major frustrations that we had with society:

The single-use water bottle epidemic: 480 billion single-use bottles were consumed in 2016, despite 91% of the global population having access to clean drinking water from the tap! This is crazy! Both memobottle founders grew up in a coastal town just south of Melbourne, Australia. Growing up in an environmentally conscious setting, being encouraged to reuse and recycle; single-use bottles have always been a huge frustration.
The inability to be able to fit round bottles into our bags: We were always taking laptop bags, satchels, backpacks etc. to university/work and either had a big bulge in our bags from the bottle, or we had to leave it at home and be forced to buy a single-use bottle during the day.

The memobottle solution

We decided to redesign the water bottle. We looked into the items that we put into our bags and realised that the majority are flat or paper shaped—for example, Ipads, books, computers, and phones. We therefore decided to design the memobottle around the dimensions of the international paper sizes; A5, A6, A7, and then the Slim (a deviation from the paper sizes but is somewhat of a notepad shape). The memobottle is optimized for travel and convenience, allowing it to slide perfectly in bags, pockets, and all other places that traditional water bottles don’t fit.

Every memobottle sold provides 2 months of clean water to those in need through our partnership with water.org. To date, we’ve provided approximately 6 million days of clean water.

We also estimate that we’ve been able to prevent the use and ultimate discarding of over 75 million single-use water bottles through the sale of memobottle products.

Memobottle Frequently Asked Questions

Generally, the A6 memobottle is our biggest seller, followed closely by the A5, Slim, and then A7. Each memobottle has its own unique benefit for different occasions.

A7 memobottle: Great for kids, to be used in small clutches (theatre etc.), and for events and festivals (pockets, easily stored and carried)

A6 memobottle: Arguably the most versatile bottle. It fits in handbags, clutches, pockets, whilst still holding a good amount of liquid. Historically, the A6 is (only just!) our biggest seller. We find this bottle to be slightly more popular with females. Handy because it fits under all faucets, so can be filled up on the go.

A5 memobottle: Perfect for University or the office. Fits beautifully in laptop bags and satchels. We find this bottle to be slightly more popular with males.

Slim memobottle: With its elegant look and stainless steel lid, the Slim is a premium offering that deviates slightly from the paper shape dimensions. It fits beautifully into bags and is a nice fit in the hand (same width as phones, for example).

Are memobottles freezer safe?

The bottles can be used in the freezer, it is recommended to fill the bottle 3/4 full (not completely full) to allow room for the water expand when frozen. Be aware that the bottle can be more brittle when taken out of the freezer so please void falls or direct pressure.

The memobottle is not insulated so does not keep water cool or hot for extended periods of time.

It is single walled, BPA-free plastic that is reusable, safe and lightweight. This design makes it perfect for portability, to fit in your bag and not weigh you down.

Does the bottle stand up?

The memobottles are designed to stand up unassisted, however given the geometry of the bottles they aren’t quite as stable as traditional round water bottles. They are however quite stable on their side when sitting on a flat surface. Our bottles are also more stable when filled with liquid.

Can the memobottles take hot liquids?

All of our memobottle have a max temperature of 100 degrees celsius (or 212 degrees Fahrenheit) meaning it can be both used and washed with hot water. Please keep in mind that the bottle might become quite hot to touch when filled with hot water, which is where the memobottle sleeves can become quite useful.

What is the lifespan of the bottle?

The memobottle has been around for 4 years now and many are still using the same bottles. The memobottles are designed to be durable and to last a long period of time. We are still calculating the complete life span of the product though but as long as the care recommendations are followed this will prolong the longevity of the bottle.

Can I put alcohol in a memobottle?

The design of the memobottle is primarily for the use of water as advertised, but it is safe to use with alcohol. We recommend washing or rinsing the bottle more regularly for use with drinks other than water.

Can it be used with Carbonated liquids?

Due to the unique shape of the memobottle it is not suitable for carbonated liquids. The pressure created from carbonation can cause the bottle to expand. The pressure is dispersed evenly with cylindrical bottles, however due to the slim shape of the memobottle this means it may damage/alter the shape.

For this reason there is a caution that the bottle is not suitable for carbonated liquids stated on the website next to the product information.
